Chelsea tonight responded to reports that midfielder Frank Lampard has broken a toe in his left foot by insisting that the knock picked up in training was a “minor injury” that would not affect his participation in Sunday’s Community Shield or Chelsea’s Premiership opener against X the following weekend.
